✿ It started with a sewing machine and a dream...
Long before I was navigating the chaos of London Fashion Week, I was a girl in Texas obsessed with color. My formal training started in a local sewing club in Addison, learning from women who had spent decades perfecting their craft. They taught me that a garment isn't just fabric—it’s a story you wear.
✿ Finding my footing (and my joy)
Moving to London at 18 was terrifying. I traded Texas warmth for British rain and spent seven years learning the creative rigor of textile design. Those years shaped my "Texas Raised, London Made" ethos: the hustle and heart of the South, mixed with the bold, eclectic energy of the U.K.
✿ Design with a Purpose
Every Mary Lo piece is designed and sampled in my studio, then produced in partnership with small production houses in limited batches with sustainable materials. I don’t believe in "throwaway" fashion. I believe in pieces that are:
✿ Made to play.
✿ Built to last.
✿ Priced to love.
✿ The People Behind the Brand
My journey hasn't always been as bright as my prints. When my studio flooded during the 2021 Texas freeze, I lost years of work and felt like I was starting from zero. But more recently, a near-death experience put my entire world into a sudden, sharp perspective.
There was a moment when everything was in limbo, and I truly didn't know if I could keep the brand going. But in that space of recovery, I realized that to keep doing what I love, I had to change how I was doing it.
Quality Over Everything
Supported by my incredible community, I’ve used this time to restructure. I’m no longer chasing "more" for the sake of it. Instead, I’ve narrowed my focus:
-
Less Variety, More Heart: I’m producing fewer types of products so I can obsess over every detail.
-
Elevated Quality: I’m dedicating my energy to developing the absolute best version of every garment—pieces that are truly built to last.
-
Prioritizing Health: By slowing down my production pace, I’m able to show up fully for my brand and for you.
To my mentors, my family, and the "All-Stars" who held me up when I couldn't: thank you for being part of this evolution. You’ve shown me that Mary Lo isn't just a label—it's a community that values the person behind the patterns.
